Nationally recognized motivational speaker, author and yoga teacher Matthew Sanford presented special workshops focusing on the mind/body connection and its relationship to personal wellness, rehabilitation and healing. Mind, Body and Healing featured a series of workshops for community members, physicians, nurses and other caregivers.
Sanford is an expert on mind-body integration. When he was 13, he survived a devastating car accident that left him paralyzed. He has dedicated himself to helping people restore the mind-body connection after a trauma or major change in physical ability. He specializes in outreach workshops and teaching yoga to people living with disabilities.
As part of his visit to CAMC, Sanford spoke to parents, caregivers and pediatric therapists regarding stress and ways that adaptive yoga can help them and their children. Sanford then demonstrated special adaptive yoga poses with the children and their caregivers.
Mind, Body and Healing was made possible by the CAMC Health Education and Research Institute and a grant from the CAMC Foundation.
